Lucille Laws left what she had known in Queens, New York when her daughter became ill, and decided to purchase a bit of land in Central, New York. Her family took precedence, and a friend gave them their first cow. Lucille hadn’t a clue what to do with a farm animal, but learned how to care for the miscellaneous animals coming her way. Before she knew it, she had a horse, some pigs, goats, and chickens. “Ten years later, I’m still learning every single day.” Lucille has an array of birds in her barn and goats, cows, a horse, and a donkey in her pasture. “All of god’s creatures have a job, they all live in unity, but they all protect one another. The Guinee Hen eats the ticks and the snakes, the donkey chases off the coyotes, while the ducks and chickens provide eggs. It’s such a beautiful relationship they all have.” This article is from 2018 and you can see more pics at Sydneys page:

Forgot to mention in my last blog.... Cassie was invited to do a cooking demonstration using our grass fed grass finished beef at the NYS FAIR!!!
Here is a link to her video that we posted on Facebook. I am so proud of her! This was not only her first time being filmed live but also the first time she ever did a cooking demonstration!! She was a natural and I wouldn't be surprised if her next adventure from this farm is a farm to table cooking show!! I know she already is brainstorming and working out the details to do homesteading classes from the farm. She will be offering in the near future classes that teach all sorts of forgotten crafts, like making cheese and butter, soaps and lotion, canning and all sorts of ways to learn to be self sufficient. Keep tuned this girl is on fire, she will far surpass any and all that I have accomplished! Meet Lucille! As former NYC girl turned into Farmer Lu, I traded my high heels and long nails for boots, a shovel and my prayer book but have never been happier, or healthier! My life and this farm is a true testament that God alone knows what would make us the happiest and leads us to it if only we allow Him.
If someone would have told me or suggested I would even visit a farm never mind own and run one I would of thought them crazy, but God has led me on this journey, always providing all the Grace, help, knowledge, and strength I need each day and I have never been more grateful to Him! Everyday is something new to make or to love. Life is good and God is great! I'm so humbled that I'm able to share all I have learned, this farm and journey with you. Welcome! |
